Authors, researchers, and freelancers can also use the plagiarism checker system to screen their work before submission by visiting the plagiarism checker. Papers submitted to ZIJEd are routinely screened using a plagiarism checker before they are considered suitable for peer review.

If the Editors suspect that parts of a submitted manuscript have been published previously (by a different author or by the same author) then they will be obliged to investigate further. Depending on the severity of the case, and in accordance with guidelines, this may result in the Editors contacting the author’s institution and/or person responsible for research governance in their institution.
