Strengthening Micro-Entrepreneur Capacity Through Community Economic Assistance Programs An Evaluation of Participatory Development Practices

Micro-enterprises play a strategic role in generating employment and improving community welfare, yet they continue to face limitations in managerial capacity, access to capital, technological adoption, and marketing networks. This study aims to analyze the implementation of community economic assistance programs in strengthening micro-entrepreneur capacity through participatory development practices, while evaluating their contribution to managerial, production, marketing, and business development aspects. Employing a qualitative evaluative-descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing with triangulation verification. The findings reveal that active involvement of micro-entrepreneurs in planning, implementation, and evaluation stages enhances ownership, independence, and adaptability to economic challenges. Technical and managerial mentoring strengthens production capacity and resource management, while social capital expands business networks and digital technology integration supports market adaptation. The contribution of this study lies in developing a conceptual framework that integrates community empowerment, participatory development, capacity building, social capital, and micro-entrepreneurship theories. It also provides a practical evaluation model for policymakers, non-governmental organizations, and economic empowerment institutions to design more effective and sustainable assistance programs.

Legal Awareness and Community Empowerment: Assessing the Effectiveness of Community-Based Legal Assistance Services

This article examines the effectiveness of community-based legal assistance services in enhancing legal awareness and empowering communities as part of broader efforts to expand access to justice. The study aims to analyze the extent to which such services strengthen individuals’ understanding of legal rights and obligations while simultaneously building their capacity to advocate for social and economic rights. Employing a mixed methods approach with an explanatory sequential design, quantitative analysis was first conducted to measure relationships among variables, followed by qualitative inquiry to explore the dynamics of program implementation. The findings reveal that community-based legal assistance has a significant positive impact on legal awareness, which in turn contributes to greater community empowerment in areas such as decision-making, social participation, and confidence in pursuing rights. Qualitative insights highlight that active community participation in legal education initiatives fosters solidarity and strengthens trust in legal institutions. The study contributes conceptually and methodologically by integrating the Theory of Legal Consciousness, Empowerment Theory, and the Access to Justice Framework within the context of community-based legal services. It also offers practical implications for policymakers and practitioners, recommending more inclusive and participatory legal aid strategies to ensure equitable access to justice for vulnerable groups.

Knowledge Transfer Strategies in Non-Formal Education: Improving Digital Literacy Among Rural Youth Through Community Outreach Programs

The study addresses the persistent digital divide experienced by rural youth, particularly in relation to limited access to technology, inadequate internet infrastructure, and low levels of digital literacy. The primary objective is to analyze the implementation of knowledge transfer strategies within non-formal education programs based on community outreach and to assess their contribution to enhancing digital literacy among rural youth. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study strategy, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, focus group discussions, and program documentation. Findings reveal that knowledge transfer strategies such as mentoring, group discussions, and digital practice simulations effectively improved participants’ abilities to access, evaluate, and create digital content, while also strengthening their engagement in community-based activities. Supporting factors included local community involvement and active facilitator participation, whereas challenges stemmed from limited infrastructure and digital devices. The study contributes theoretically by reinforcing the relevance of Knowledge Transfer Theory, Experiential Learning Theory, Digital Literacy Framework, and Community-Based Learning Theory in the context of non-formal education. Practically, it demonstrates the potential of community-based strategies to bridge the digital divide in rural areas. The implications highlight the need for adaptive digital literacy programs tailored to local contexts and provide strategic recommendations for practitioners and policymakers to foster sustainable digital inclusion among rural youth.

Preserving Cultural Heritage Through Community Participation: An Action Research Study on Local Cultural Engagement Initiatives

Preserving cultural heritage has become a pressing challenge in the context of globalization, urbanization, and the rapid advancement of digital technologies. This study aims to analyze the forms, characteristics, and levels of community participation in local cultural preservation initiatives, while also developing strategies based on participatory approaches through the application of Participatory Action Research (PAR). Employing a qualitative participatory design, the research actively engaged communities in iterative cycles of problem identification, planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, focus group discussions, documentation, and institutional records. The findings reveal that community participation manifests in direct involvement in cultural activities, the pivotal role of traditional leaders and cultural organizations, and the contribution of younger generations through digital documentation and promotion. Supporting factors include strong community leadership, local government support, and robust social networks, while barriers involve limited funding, low cultural awareness among youth, and weak stakeholder coordination. This study contributes to the development of a participatory and sustainable model of cultural preservation that can be replicated across diverse local communities. It also enriches academic discourse by integrating theories of community participation, social capital, empowerment, and cultural heritage within the methodological framework of Action Research, offering both theoretical insights and practical implications for sustainable cultural preservation.

Social Innovation for Community Well-Being: Evaluating Grassroots Interventions in Addressing Local Development Challenges

This article examines the implementation of community-based social innovation as a strategic approach to addressing local development challenges that cannot be fully resolved through formal policies or market mechanisms. The study aims to analyze the effectiveness of grassroots interventions in enhancing community well-being and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence program success. Employing a qualitative case study design within a constructivist paradigm, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, focus group discussions, and analysis of organizational and policy documents. The findings reveal that the success of community-based social innovation is strongly shaped by community participation, adaptive local leadership, multi-stakeholder collaborative networks, institutional support, sustainable funding, and organizational capacity to adapt to social dynamics. Barriers identified include limited participation in certain areas, conflicting stakeholder interests, restricted access to technology, and weak monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. The theoretical contribution of this study lies in the integration of social innovation, community development, participatory development, social capital, and collaborative governance frameworks to understand the dynamics of local development. Practically, the study highlights the need to strengthen community capacity, ensure consistent institutional support, and develop sustainable funding strategies so that community-based social innovation can serve as a cornerstone of inclusive and sustainable local development.

Development Strategies for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Enhancing the Income of Tempe Chips Enterprises

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a strategic role in supporting local economic growth, yet they often face challenges related to limited capital, weak innovation, poor management, and restricted market access. This study aims to analyze the development conditions of MSMEs in tempe chips enterprises in Mendahara Ilir Village and to formulate effective strategies for increasing business income. The research employs a qualitative case study approach, utilizing observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving business owners, workers, consumers, and village officials. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, with source, technique, and time triangulation to ensure validity. The findings reveal that tempe chips enterprises encounter significant obstacles, including capital constraints, lack of product innovation, weak managerial practices, limited use of digital technology, and narrow marketing networks. Nevertheless, some efforts have been initiated, such as improving packaging, introducing new flavors, and using social media for promotion, though these remain underdeveloped. The study contributes theoretically by integrating the resource-based view and Schumpeterian innovation theory within the rural MSME context, while practically offering applicable recommendations for entrepreneurs and local government in designing empowerment policies. The implications highlight the necessity of a holistic approach to MSME development based on local potential to enhance competitiveness and community welfare.
