Author Guidelines



Zabags International Journal of Islamic Studies (ZIJIS) welcomes high-quality scholarly submissions from researchers, practitioners, and graduate scholars in the field of education. Authors are advised to follow the guidelines below to ensure a smooth submission and review process.

Authors retain the copyright of their work and grant Zabags International Journal of Islamic Studies the right of first publication.

1. General Requirements

  1. Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal.
  2. Submissions must align with the journal’s Focus and Scope.
  3. Manuscripts must be written in English, using clear academic language.
  4. All manuscripts will be screened for plagiarism using similarity-detection tools. ZIJIS permits a maximum similarity index of 20%, excluding references.
  5. Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all data, references, and ethical considerations related to the manuscript.

2. Manuscript Preparation

2.1 ZIJIS accepts the following types of manuscripts:
     - Original Research Articles (6,000–8,000 words)
     - Conceptual or Theoretical Papers (5,000–8,000 words)
     - Critical Literature Reviews (6,000–8,000 words)
     - Methodological or Analytical Studies (5,000–8,000 words)
Word count includes references, tables, and appendices.


2.2 Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts must follow this structure:

a. Title Page

  • Article title (concise, descriptive, maximum 15 words)
  • Full names of authors
  • Affiliations (institution, city, country)
  • Corresponding author email
  • ORCID iD (strongly recommended)

b. Abstract (150–200 words)

The abstract must include:

  • Background or research objective
  • Methods
  • Key findings
  • Conclusion and significance
    Include 3–5 keywords.

c. Main Text

The body of the manuscript should be structured as follows:

1. Introduction

  • Background and problem context
  • Research gap and rationale
  • Objectives and significance

2. Methods

  • Research design
  • Participants / subjects
  • Data collection procedures
  • Instruments
  • Data analysis techniques

3. Results / Findings

  • Present findings clearly using tables/figures as needed

4. Discussion

  • Interpret findings
  • Compare with existing studies
  • Implications

5. Conclusion

  • Summary of findings
  • Contributions to theory and practice
  • Recommendations for future research

6. References

List all sources cited in your paper, formatted according to ZIJIS’s guidelines.


2.3 Formatting and Style

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.docx)
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt
  • Line spacing: 1.5
  • Page size: A4, margins 2.5 cm
  • Use APA 7th Edition for in-text citations and references.
  • Tables and figures:
    • Number sequentially (Table 1, Table 2, etc.)
    • Provide clear titles and sources (if adapted)
    • Insert in relevant sections, not at the end

3. Ethical Standards

ZIJIS follows international ethical guidelines.

3.1 Research Ethics

  • For studies involving human participants, authors must confirm that ethical approval was obtained and informed consent was secured.

3.2 Publication Ethics

  • ZIJIS adheres to COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) principles.
  • Misconduct such as plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate publication will result in rejection.

3.3 Authorship

  • All listed authors must have made a significant contribution to:
    conceptualization, methodology, data analysis, writing, or revision.
  • Ghost authorship or honorary authorship is strictly prohibited.

4. Submission Process

  1. All manuscripts must be submitted through the OJS submission system.
  2. Authors must register or log into their account before submitting.
  3. Upload the following files:
    • Main manuscript (without author identity)
    • Title page (with author information)
    • Figure/table files (if uploaded separately)
  4. Ensure all metadata (title, abstract, keywords, references) are correctly entered.

5. Peer Review Process

  • ZIJIS uses a double-blind peer review model.
  • Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers.
  • The review timeline typically ranges from 4–8 weeks.
  • Decisions may include:
    Accept | Minor Revision | Major Revision | Reject

Revised manuscripts must be resubmitted within 10–21 days depending on the decision type.

7. Article Processing

For accepted manuscripts:

  • Authors may be asked to make formatting adjustments
  • Copy-editing, layout, and proofreading will be handled by the editorial team
  • Final publication is subject to approval by the Editor-in-Chief
