Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Zabags International Journal of Education (ZIJEd) welcomes high-quality scholarly submissions from researchers, practitioners, and graduate scholars in the field of education. Authors are advised to follow the guidelines below to ensure a smooth submission and review process.

Authors retain the copyright of their work and grant Zabags International Journal of Education the right of first publication.

1. AIMS AND SCOPE

Zabags International Journal of Education (ZIJEd) publishes high-quality, original research articles in the field of education, with a specific focus on:

  • Educational policy and governance
  • Curriculum and pedagogy innovation
  • Islamic education in global context
  • Educational management in developing countries
  • Technology-enhanced learning

Important:
The journal prioritizes research with strong theoretical contribution and international relevance. Manuscripts that are purely descriptive or lack analytical depth will not be considered.

2. TYPES OF MANUSCRIPTS

ZIJEd accepts only the following categories:

Accepted

  • Original Research Articles (empirical: quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods)
  • Systematic Literature Review (with rigorous methodology, e.g., PRISMA)

Not Accepted

  • Purely descriptive studies
  • Opinion papers / essays
  • Narrative literature reviews without methodology
  • Local case reports without global implication

3. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

All submitted manuscripts must:

  • Be original and unpublished
  • Not be under consideration elsewhere
  • Be written in high-quality academic English
  • Demonstrate:
    • clear research gap
    • explicit novelty
    • meaningful theoretical contribution
    • international relevance

Manuscripts failing to meet these criteria will be desk rejected.

4. STRUCTURE OF THE MANUSCRIPT

4.1 Title

  • Clear, specific, and reflects research contribution
  • Avoid overly general phrasing

4.2 Abstract (150–250 words)

Must include:

  • Background
  • Objective
  • Method
  • Key findings
  • Contribution

4.3 Keywords

  • 3–5 keywords
  • Use internationally recognized terminology

4.4 Introduction

Must include:

  • Research background
  • Critical literature review
  • Clear research gap
  • Research objectives
  • Theoretical positioning

Weak introductions without gap analysis will lead to rejection.

4.5 Methodology

Quantitative Research must include:

  • Research design
  • Population/sample
  • Instrument validity & reliability
  • Data analysis method
  • Statistical reporting (e.g., p-values, confidence intervals)

Qualitative Research must include:

  • Research approach
  • Data collection method
  • Data analysis framework
  • Trustworthiness (triangulation, credibility)

Mixed Methods:

  • Justification of integration
  • Clear sequencing

4.6 Results

  • Present findings clearly and systematically
  • Avoid repetition of data

4.7 Discussion

Must include:

  • Interpretation of findings
  • Comparison with previous studies
  • Theoretical implications
  • Practical implications
  • Contribution to knowledge

Discussion must go beyond description.

4.8 Conclusion

  • Concise summary
  • Highlight contribution
  • Suggest future research

5. REFERENCES

Authors must comply with the following:

  • Minimum 20–30 references
  • At least:
    • 70% from international journals
    • 50% from Scopus-indexed journals
  • Preferably from the last 5 years

Avoid excessive self-citation.

Citation style: APA (latest edition)

6. LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Manuscripts must be written in professional academic English
  • Authors are strongly advised to use:
    • professional proofreading services
    • native speaker editing

Manuscripts with poor language quality will be rejected without review.

7. PUBLICATION ETHICS

ZIJEd follows standards from Committee on Publication Ethics

Authors must ensure:

  • Originality of work
  • Proper citation
  • No plagiarism (<15% similarity index)
  • No data fabrication or falsification

Mandatory Statements:

  • Conflict of Interest
  • Funding Statement
  • Data Availability Statement

AI Policy:

  • Use of AI tools must be fully disclosed
  • AI cannot be listed as an author

8. SUBMISSION PROCESS

Manuscripts must be submitted via:
Open Journal Systems (OJS) Open Journal Systems

Authors must upload:

  • Manuscript file (without author identity for blind review)
  • Title page (separate file)
  • Ethical statements

9. PEER REVIEW PROCESS

ZIJEd uses double-blind peer review.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Originality and novelty
  • Methodological rigor
  • Theoretical contribution
  • Clarity of analysis
  • International relevance

10. DESK REJECTION POLICY

The editor may reject manuscripts without review if:

  • Outside journal scope
  • Lack of research novelty
  • Weak methodology
  • Poor English quality
  • Low academic contribution

11. ARTICLE PROCESSING

  • Initial screening: 1–2 weeks
  • Peer review: 4–8 weeks
  • Revision: 2–4 weeks

12. COPYRIGHT AND LICENSE

  • Articles are published under Creative Commons License
  • Authors retain copyright

13. FINAL NOTE FOR AUTHORS
